Gustavo Sosa Diaz

Gustavo Sosa diaz was born and educated in Cuba and newly immigrated to Spain. He has, in his short career, accomplished a remarkable level of achievement.  His talents recognized at an early age, Sosa pursued artistic development through the institutions of Cuba.  At the age of 23, he departed his homeland for broader creative opportunities abroad, where he continues to expand his studio practice, collaborate, and exhibit widely.
Sosa works in the vein of Anselm Kiefer- both in aesthetic language and responses to a national psyche.  Like Keifer, the collective memory and moral compass of the artist’s nation is rendered, a response to history.  Sosa, speaking on this subject in his work, notes that "A society that is lost in itself and somehow explodes. Thus surges the monster that gives life and death to an era.'
